Roading, Growth and Tamahere’s Long-Term Future Remain on TCC Agenda

Roading, future growth and longer-term planning for Tamahere will again feature prominently when the TCC - Tamahere Community Committee meets at 7.30pm on Tuesday, September 1 at the Tamahere Community Centre.
Among the key roading matters is an update on the Tamahere Drive upgrade, now scheduled for February–March 2027. The Committee will also prepare for a meeting with NZTA on September 2 concerning Southern Links, while an update is expected on the Waikato Thoroughbred Racing Greenfield FastTrack development.
The Councillors’ Report from Cr Crystal Beavis and Cr Mike Keir will cover progress on the Head Start proposal for council amalgamation, along with Long Term Plan priorities and timing. Also on the agenda is the Whakanui Stud sand quarry RMA application involving 1466 Cambridge Road and 310 Hooker Road.
Work on Vision Tamahere 2075 is continuing, including development of the planning team, a WDC funding application and the proposed inclusion of Matangi and Tauwhare in the wider planning exercise. Importantly, the agenda also signals continuing community consultation, including use of the Tamahere Forum to encourage further local input.
The Chairman’s Report will provide updates on two significant community reserve projects — progress on the Matangi Recreation Reserve Master Plan and development of the Tamahere Reserve Concept Plan. Updates are also expected from Civil Defence, Predator Free Tamahere, the Matangi Community Committee, Tamahere Lions, Mangaone Restoration Trust, Tamahere Model Country School and St Stephens Church.
