Have Your Say on Our District’s Future - Community Open Day 18 October.

The Sunday 18 October Open Day brings together two planning processes intrinsically connected: Waikato District Council’s next Long Term Plan (LTP) and TCC’s Vision Tamahere 2075 community planning project. Two key documents requiring community input.
What should Council be prioritising for the district?
Council is beginning the process of developing its next LTP, the document determining priorities for the next 3-years, expenditure and investment across the district. Cr's Beavis and Keir are encouraging residents to become involved before the final draft is prepared, rather than waiting for formal consultation expected in March 2027.
That makes the October Open Day particularly important. District wide residents will be able to discuss what matters locally: roads and transport, infrastructure, reserves and community facilities, growth, environmental priorities and ultimately whether residents are receiving a fair return from the rates collected from our community.
Concurrently - what should Tamahere look like in 2075?
Alongside the Council discussion, TCC will update residents on Vision Tamahere 2075 and invite further community input.
Work over recent months has identified what residents want protected, improved or provided as Tamahere changes over coming decades. Growth pressures, transport, green space, community facilities and preservation of Tamahere's rural-residential character are already prominent themes. TCC intends the resulting Community Plan to provide something tangible that can feed into Council's own long-term planning.
The message is simple: don't wait until the decisions have largely been made.
A menu, for what's likely to be the last Open day for 2026, will be shared nearer the date.
Come along, see what is being proposed, tell Council what the district needs and help TCC define what kind of community you want to leave to the generations that follow us.
