The Tamahere Community Committee (TCC) wraps up a landmark year tomorrow night with its final meeting for 2025, a year marked by a refreshed committee, a clearer charter, and a noticeable lift in community engagement and forward momentum. The meeting will be held 7.30pm, Tuesday 2 December at the Tamahere Community Centre.
This closing session brings together the major threads of what has been a purposeful year for the committee. A new Charter (2025–2028), a sharpened Community Plan, a bigger presence in local decision-making, and stronger threads of collaboration across council, residents, schools, churches, and community groups have all contributed to a more organised and future-focused TCC.
Key Items on Tomorrow Night’s Agenda
Tamahere Community Committee Charter 2025–2028
One of the standout achievements of the year, a new TCC Charter, will be formally presented for discussion. It sets a clearer framework for how the committee operates and strengthens expectations around transparency, effectiveness, and community representation. This alone signals a refreshed TCC with more structure and capability than previous cycles.
Tamahere Reserve & Community Plan Updates
Further updates on the Tamahere Reserve Concept Plan will be shared, along with the latest developments arising from the recent Community Plan workshop held on 27 November at the WDC Village Office. Together, these two workstreams form the backbone of long-term planning for open spaces, recreation, ecological restoration, and community priorities across the wider Tamahere area.
Sub-Committee and Representative Reports
A full suite of community-led initiatives will be reporting in, reflecting the diverse activity across Tamahere:
CCTV & community safety
Civil Defence planning
Southern Links / NZTA updates
Predator Free Tamahere
Playground shade project (Tamahere Lions)
Mangaone Restoration Trust updates
School & church liaison reports
WDC CEO and Long-Term Plan commentary
These groups reflect the stronger connective tissue that has emerged this year with more voices at the table, more collaboration, and more progress being tracked openly.
Submissions & Civic Engagement
The committee will also review key regional processes currently open for feedback, encouraging residents to stay engaged with WDC, WRC, and HCC “Have Your Say” platforms, particularly around the Morrinsville Road upgrade, which remains a major community interest point.
Other Business & Looking Ahead to 2026
Important end-of-year matters include:
Tamahere Community Charitable Trust update
Recreation Park lighting
Feedback from the bus route trial
Setting the 2026 meeting calendar (to be finalised tomorrow night)
The first TCC meeting for 2026 is tentatively set for Tuesday 3 February, 7.30pm.
A Committee That Has Found Its Stride
2025 has been a transitional year, but in the best sense. A refreshed committee, improved processes, a more open relationship with council, and a renewed sense of purpose have set up the TCC for a strong three-year cycle. Residents can expect clearer communication, more decisive action, and ongoing opportunities to help shape the future of the Tamahere community.
The Tamahere Forum will continue to provide updates as these projects unfold.
