Tamahere: It’s Decision Time — Reserve, Roads, and a 50-Year Vision on the Table

Tamahere’s future is up for debate, and your Community Committee wants every voice in the room. Tuesday, 1 July 2025 at 7 : 30 pm, you are invitred to the Tamahere Community Centre to thrash out the big issues shaping our corner of the Waikato.

Top of the agenda is the Tamahere Reserve concept plan. The 43-year-old pines have had their day and should they all come down, just a few, or none at all? Bring your view, because Council staff are listening.

Growth is another hot button. Waikato District Council’s 2020-2070 Growth & Economic Development Strategy is being refreshed, alongside the Future Proof regional growth plan and Tamahere’s own 10-year Blueprint. If you care about housing density, green space, business hubs or cycleways, now’s the moment to speak up.

NZTA’s Southern Links project will redraw SH3’s route from the Airport to Hamilton and link across to the Waikato Expressway. Construction mitigation - noise, safety, rural access -needs strong local advocacy. The committee wants your priorities before final designs are tabled.

Guest presenter Emma Rankin (WDC Economic Development) will outline fresh ideas for boosting business and tourism in Tamahere-Matangi, while councillors Crystal Beavis and Mike Keir will field questions on district matters. Regular updates—from Predator-Free initiatives to CCTV roll-out—round off the night.

Let your voice be heard Tamahere Community Centre Devine Rd 7.30pm Tuesday 1st July.
