Leaders Meeting Tuesday 10th June to Tackle Rural Mail Theft – Tamahere Community Centre, 3PM

A timely and important Leaders Meeting, Tuesday 10 June at 3:00 PM, at the Tamahere Community Centre, bringing together key figures to address the growing issue of mail theft in rural Waikato communities.

While Prime Minister Christopher Luxon has sent his apologies, he expressed strong support for the kaupapa – an echo of the concern and commitment already voiced by many of you.

In attendance will be Waikato MP Tim van de Molen, Minister of Police Mark Mitchell, representatives from NZ Police, NZ Post, and Waikato District Council, including Mayor Jacqui Church, councillors, iwi leaders, and community representatives from across the Tamahere–Woodlands Ward, including Gordonton, Eureka, Tauwhare, Matangi, Newstead, and Puketaha.

Local residents are warmly invited to attend. After all, you're the ones experiencing this first-hand—and your voices matter.

The agenda includes:

  • A briefing on the scale and impact of rural mail theft

  • What’s working (and what’s not) in terms of prevention and enforcement

  • A community call to action, including planning for a public meeting and broader community engagement

The meeting will run for 1 to 2 hours max and is deliberately scheduled ahead of Fieldays to maximise attendance from national and regional leaders.

Please arrive on time. We look forward to a constructive and action-focused discussion.
